Activate Your Button in 4 Easy Steps

The button is charged and the sim is already inserted.

Step 1

To power the button on and connect to the network, hold the button in for 15 seconds until you see the LED flash multiple colours. It will take up to 3 minutes to register the device on the network. Once complete, the flashing red LED will stop.

Step 2

Download the Dark Water Panic app from the App Store or Google Play Store.

Step 3

Enter your mobile number and your OTP. The system will pick up your details from when you registered via www.darkwater.co.za

Step 4

Go to “Device” in the Dark Water Panic app and scan the QR code on the outside of your packaging. Alternatively you can manually enter the number attached to your QR code.

The app will confirm that your panic button is now linked to the Dark Water Armed Response Centre.

You are NOW LIVE

MANDATORY: Please make sure you test the button before use. Activate a test PANIC using the following steps.

Hold the button for 3 – 4 seconds

The LED will flash 3 colours which means that a PANIC has been activated. You may now release the button.

You will get a call from the response centre within a few seconds. (If you don’t answer the call, they will dispatch an Armed Response vehicle to the location of the button.)

How to Transmit a PANIC

Hold the button for 2-5 seconds. The AMBER and GREEN LED will flash indicating that a PANIC message has been sent to the Dark Water Armed Response Centre.

A message will be sent repeatedly giving a location update every 5 minutes for up to an hour or until the Response Centre cancels the call. IMPORTANT NOTE: The button allows for only one PANIC to be transmitted every 5 minutes. Repeatedly activating a PANIC is not necessary.

Power Management

The button battery will last a minimum of 10 days on a full charge.

You will receive an SMS to alert you when the battery reaches 20%.

You will receive a further SMS once per day to alert you that the battery is low.

If the button starts to beep and the red light is flashing, the battery is at 5% and needs to be recharged urgently.

To charge the button, connect the micro USB cable to the USB port underneath the rubber flap on the side of the button.

Indicators

A half-second press of the button will cause the LED to flash. A quick green flash means that the button has a charge, but the button is turned off. A quick amber flash means that the button has power and is registered on the network.

To turn the button ON, hold it down for 15 seconds until the LED flashes multiple colours.

To turn the button OFF, hold down for 15 seconds. Note: The LED will flash multiple colours after 3 seconds and again at 15 seconds. Once the flashing at 15 seconds begins, let go of the button and the device will turn off.
